What we deliberately removed
- Autoplay. An episode ends and the screen stays ended.
- The countdown to the next thing. Nothing on this site starts by itself.
- Cliffhangers in the Quiet Nights series. Each one resolves completely.
- Streaks, badges for watching, and rewards for returning.
- Recommendations from unrelated channels.
What actually helps at home
Warn before the end rather than at the end, "one more after this" lands far better than "that’s it, off".
Watch the last two minutes together if you can. The transition out of a screen is much easier when somebody is already in the room.
Use the episode length as the unit. "One episode" is concrete in a way that "twenty minutes" is not to a five-year-old.
Our episode lengths
Most episodes run five to nine minutes. That is deliberate, long enough for a proper story, short enough to be a complete unit that ends naturally.
